Camping in Scotland

How to camp responsibly and follow the Scottish Outdoor Access Code

Scotland’s access legislation allows camping wherever access rights apply. This leaflet tells you all you need to know to enjoy camping responsibly.

Our access rights come with certain obligations, such as respecting others and the environment. The Scottish Outdoor Access Code provides detailed guidance on enjoying the outdoors responsibly, including advice on lighting fires and dealing with waste and litter.

This leaflet summarises the Access Code’s advice for campers and explains where to find more information. It is perfect for keeping in your rucksack.
